Shalon Sharpe First Grade Shalon Sharpe is a graduate of Ketchum High School. She has an Elementary Education degree from Northeastern State University and is also certified in early childhood. She is in her 6th year of teaching. In 2008 she achieved National Board Certification. She has been married to her husband Brandon for 13 years. They have two children, Jeylyn and Jade. Both of her kids are actively involved in sports and school organizations, so they are very busy. The smallest member of the family, their dog Isabella, keeps them busy too. Kim Byrd 3rd Grade
My name is Kim Byrd. I attended Ketchum Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. After graduating from high school, I attended Oklahoma State University and Northeastern State University. I graduated from NSU in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood. In 1997, I came back to Ketchum to start my teaching career. I have taught 3rd grade for 10 years and 1st grade for two years. I am married to Chris Byrd. We have two wonderful daughters, Kelsy and Keely. Kelsy is 13, an honor student, and a ballplayer. Keely is 3 and extremely curious.. We have the best of both worlds, teenager and active 3 year old. Our activities revolve around our girls. I always knew that teaching was what I was supposed to do in life. I love to see kids learn and grow. There is nothing better than to be able to say that you have had a positive impact on a child’s education and life. It is my goal to teach children all I can about not only academics, but also about how to be true to yourself and others. Susan Weeks 4th and 5th Grade Science My name is Susan Weeks. I graduated from Ketchum High School in 1989. My daughter Bobbie was born in 1992 my younger daughter was born in 1996. In 2005 I married my husband Cecil whom I adore and we had a son in 2006 (C.J.). In 1995 I graduated from NSU in Tahlequah, OK with a Bachelor's degree in Science of Education. I've been teaching at Ketchum since 1996. I have taught a variety of subjects but currently I am teaching 4th and 5th grade Science. And I love it! Melanie Sanders 4th and 5th Grade Math Melanie Sanders was born and raised in Oklahoma City. She moved to Vinita 20 years ago. She has 18 years of experience as an educator, primarily in the field of special education. She has taught at all grade levels and joined Ketchum Elementary 4 years ago. She earned a B.Ed. from Missouri Southern University in Joplin, MO and a M.Ed. from Northeastern State University specializing in school counseling. She has 2 sons, one in Middle School and one in High School. Her husband Robert and her family continue to reside in Vinita.
